Aliso Viejo bans commercial dog, cat sales

ALISO VIEJO - Commercial breeders referred to as puppy mills will not be able to sell their animals through stores in the city.

Aliso Viejo joins Laguna Beach, Irvine and Dana Point in passing laws to discourage inhumane treatment of animals by regulating pet stores.

No businesses currently sell dogs and cats in Aliso Viejo, and the law would not apply to pet adoptions.

"Right now it's not an issue in our city," Garcia said.
