License Plates Raise $100000 For Local Shelters

The Adopt-A-Shelter Pet license plates went on sale in January of 2011.

The CPOF awards the money to animal shelters and rescue groups to supply medical care and microchip identification.

A spokesman for the CPOF said during the first full year of sales, they generated $100,000.

At present, there are 28 license plates in the "Group Special Plates" category.

The Colorado Rockies charitable organization is hoping to get on the band wagon.

A bill in the Colorado legislature would create a special plate for the professional baseball team.

So far in 2012, the Pikes Peak Humane Society has received $4,000 in grants from CPOF. 80 with proceeds benefiting underprivileged and at-risk youth.
