Speed up efforts to regulate pet trade, SPCA urges

The rising number of abandoned pets has prompted animal welfare group the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA) to call on the Agri-Food ponsibilities of buying a pet.

Ms Fong attributed the rising abandonment numbers to "society's increased affluence" and the growth in the pet trade in the last decade.

Mr Yeo felt responsible pet ownership should be included in schools' moral and civic curriculum to instill responsible pet ownership.
